Joshua Zirkzee has reportedly expressed his desire to join AC Milan, despite the interest from Manchester United and Arsenal in acquiring the talented Bologna forward.
It seems that the 22-year-old has set his sights on a move to AC Milan and has instructed his agents to facilitate his dream transfer.
Zirkzee has had an impressive season with Bologna, contributing 10 goals and four assists in 28 matches. His performances have played a significant role in Bologna’s success, as they currently sit in fourth place in Serie A and are on track to qualify for the Champions League. Despite only joining Bologna from Bayern Munich less than two years ago, it appears that Zirkzee is ready to move on from the club this summer.
Several clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Juventus, have shown interest in securing his services. However, according to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Zirkzee’s preference lies with AC Milan, and he has instructed his representatives to explore the possibility of the proposed move.
According to the same report, Milan is making preparations to present an offer that could persuade Bologna to part ways with their highly valued asset. It is rumored that the Rossoneri are contemplating a bid in the vicinity of £42.9 million, coupled with the complete ownership of Alexis Saelemaekers, who has showcased his talent while on loan at Bologna this season.
Taking into account the £64 million that United paid for Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, Bologna believes that Zirkzee holds a similar value. Additionally, the Italian club aims to generate a substantial profit from the £7.3 million invested in the striker, as Bayern holds a 40% sell-on fee clause in his contract, which was signed in August 2022.
If Zirkzee were to join Milan, it would be a setback for both United and Arsenal, considering his immense potential and current abilities. Standing at 6″4, the former Anderlecht loanee excels as a target man, although he prefers to have another forward alongside him to create a dynamic and interchangeable front-two.
