Italian midfielder Jorginho has steadily risen in manager Mikel Arteta’s pecking order at Arsenal, particularly when the Spaniard seeks to exert greater control over the midfield.
According to Football London, Jorginho’s recent performances have been “largely outstanding,” demonstrating his value as a reliable option in the base of the midfield. Analyst Kaya Kaynak noted, “The Italian has established himself as a dependable and high-quality choice when Arteta seeks to maintain control of the game, particularly evident in crucial matches like the recent victory against Liverpool.”
Jorginho played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s convincing 4-1 win over Newcastle last weekend and has made 16 appearances in the Premier League this season. Football London reports that Jorginho’s growing influence could even challenge the previously “undroppable” status of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey, who is currently recovering from an injury.
While Jorginho may not possess the same attacking prowess as Partey, evident in their progressive carries per game (0.76 vs. 1.23), he compensates with his superior passing accuracy (89.7% vs. 87.2% in the previous season). As Jorginho’s contract with Arsenal expires in June, the club holds the option to extend it for an additional year.
