Italian international Jorginho is presently contracted with Arsenal until June 30, as confirmed by his agent who discussed the prospect of his return to Serie A. Expressing potential suitability, his agent mentioned Lazio as a favorable option, while not dismissing the possibility of joining Juventus, Napoli, Milan, or Inter. However, the likelihood of a move to Roma appears low.
At 32 years old, Jorginho, the midfielder, has the option to extend his contract with Arsenal, although activation of this option is not assured. His tenure in the Premier League commenced in the summer of 2018, following his transfer from Napoli to Chelsea for €57m under the management of Maurizio Sarri. He subsequently moved to Arsenal in January 2023 for €11.3m.
With a potential return to Serie A anticipated this summer, discussions regarding various options, including a potential reunion with Sarri, have been initiated by his agent.
“Considering the familiarity between Jorginho and coach Sarri, particularly Sarri’s understanding of Jorginho’s characteristics, Lazio appears to be a suitable option,” stated Joao Santos in an interview with TV Play in Italy. “Additionally, Juventus, equipped with an excellent sporting director like Cristiano Giuntoli, with whom Jorginho has previously worked during his time at Napoli, is another viable option.”
Santos further noted the possibility of a return to Napoli under the management of the newly appointed coach Calzona, who has prior experience working with Sarri.
“Given Calzona’s history with Sarri and his recent appointment as Napoli’s coach, a reunion between Jorginho and Napoli cannot be discounted,” Santos remarked.
Calzona’s association with Napoli dates back to his previous roles as an assistant manager to Sarri and Luciano Spalletti.
While Jorginho’s potential return to Serie A presents several options, his representative emphasized the allure of clubs like Milan and Inter, given their formidable stature and rich tradition. However, the prospect of joining Roma appears unlikely due to the absence of any prior contact.
“In consideration of their stature and heritage, clubs like Milan and Inter would naturally be attractive destinations,” concluded Jorginho’s representative.
