Jorge Mendes, the renowned super-agent, has quickly facilitated Bruno Fernandes’ transfer to Barcelona from Manchester United following the playmaker’s openness to exploring his options post the European Championships.
Fernandes has excelled at United since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, proving to be a standout performer during Erik ten Hag’s challenging second season at Old Trafford, with an impressive tally of 15 goals and nine assists across all competitions.
However, despite previously expressing his commitment to Manchester United following positive discussions with new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Bruno Fernandes revealed in an interview with DAZN Portugal that he will postpone making any decisions about his future until after the Euros in Germany this summer.
Fernandes acknowledged that his future at the club does not solely depend on him, stating that both the player and the club must desire for him to stay. Currently, he believes that there is mutual desire for him to remain at Manchester United.
The midfielder admitted that he is not overly preoccupied with his future at the moment. He expressed disappointment with the current season, both in terms of his individual performance and the team’s collective performance.
Therefore, Fernandes emphasized that he will not consider leaving the Premier League until after the Euros. He explained that his focus is currently on the FA Cup final and the Euros, as these events hold utmost importance for him.
These remarks from Fernandes come amidst reports suggesting that no player, except for Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Alejandro Garnacho, is safe at Manchester United. It is believed that Ratcliffe and INEOS are looking to revamp the squad and generate funds for new signings in the upcoming summer transfer window.
