Both Simone Inzaghi and Francesco Acerbi have reportedly opted for plea bargains following their involvement in an incident during Inter’s victory over Roma, resulting in fines totaling €17,000.
The match, held at the Stadio Olimpico, was marked by contentious moments that extended beyond the final whistle.
Acerbi, who initiated the scoring with a header, courted controversy by gesturing toward the Roma supporters with a raised middle finger following an extended VAR review.
The former Lazio defender, known for his battle with cancer earlier in his career, stated that his reaction was prompted by chants from the Roma fans wishing him harm.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi, serving a one-match touchline ban, observed the proceedings from the press box. Despite this, it was evident that he was communicating with his coaching staff and possibly the players via phone during the match and halftime break.
Reportedly, Inzaghi has accepted a plea bargain, agreeing to a €3,500 fine, which will be matched by Inter. Acerbi, on the other hand, has consented to pay a €5,000 fine, with Inter obligated to cover an equal sum to avoid any further disciplinary action.
