Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, asserts that the club was content with the acquisition of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta during the previous summer transfer window, particularly due to what he describes as a scarcity of high-quality options available in the market.
Hojlund’s move to Manchester United from Atalanta reportedly involved a fee of €75 million, with an additional €10 million in add-ons. The Danish international had demonstrated promising form during his sole season with Atalanta, tallying ten goals in 34 appearances.
While the 21-year-old initially faced challenges adapting to his new environment at Manchester United, he has since showcased his capabilities by registering seven goals in 20 Premier League matches thus far, establishing himself as one of the most prolific players across Europe’s top five leagues in the year 2024.
Presently sidelined due to a muscle injury, Hojlund continues to garner praise from his coach, ten Hag, who reaffirmed the club’s satisfaction with the former Atalanta player.
“In light of limited viable alternatives, we were delighted to secure the services of Rasmus Hojlund, a player deemed suitable for Manchester United’s standards,” remarked ten Hag to reporters on Sunday, as cited by Goal.com.
Following Hojlund’s departure, Atalanta opted to fill the void with acquisitions such as Charles De Ketelaere from Milan and Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham. De Ketelaere, the Belgian striker, has contributed significantly with ten goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, while Scamacca, the Italian forward, has found the net seven times in 25 matches, along with providing three assists.
