Matias Soulé’s recent performance in Serie A has seen a noticeable decline, having failed to score in the last eight consecutive matches, a concerning trend acknowledged by Frosinone coach Eusebio Di Francesco. Despite an otherwise impressive season, marked by ten goals and two assists in 29 Serie A appearances, Soulé, the Argentinean winger, has not found the back of the net since February 3, 2024.
During Frosinone’s recent fixture against Bologna, Soulé played for 85 minutes in a goalless draw, after which he was substituted by coach Di Francesco. In response to inquiries by Sky Sport Italia regarding Soulé’s goal drought, Di Francesco candidly remarked that Soulé must avoid excessive ball retention, urging him to discern the opportune moments to act within games.
Di Francesco elaborated on Soulé’s penchant for ball retention, noting his reluctance to adhere to limitations during training exercises, which underscores his passion for possession. Nonetheless, Di Francesco emphasized the importance for Soulé to exhibit discernment and distribute the ball promptly when necessary.
Soulé, currently on loan from Juventus, will return to the Allianz Stadium at the culmination of the ongoing campaign. Despite a promising start, Frosinone finds themselves languishing in the relegation zone with 26 points amassed from 31 matches. Their upcoming league encounter against Napoli on April 14 presents a critical opportunity to improve their standings.
