Midfielder Alejandro Garnacho displayed extremely unhygienic behavior by picking his nose and seemingly eating his boogers on the substitute bench during Manchester United’s loss to Manchester City in the 27th round of the Premier League.
In the away fixture against Manchester City last night (3/3), Alejandro Garnacho started in Manchester United’s lineup before being substituted for Forson in the 82nd minute.
While on the substitute bench, Garnacho exhibited unhygienic behavior that stirred up controversy on social media. Specifically, footage captured Garnacho picking his nose and then putting his boogers in his mouth.
Garnacho’s lack of hygiene brings to mind similar actions by coach Joachim Low. The 64-year-old coach has repeatedly engaged in similar behavior while managing the German national team.
Immediately, fans criticized Garnacho and taunted Manchester United for allowing a hungry player to compete:
“Let Garnacho do that because he’s hungry.” “The boy needs a good meal.” “This was the highlight of Man Utd’s second half.”
Did Garnacho really put his boogers in his mouth? Poor Garnacho, does MU not feed him anything?
For Garnacho, it was a forgettable performance in the Manchester derby. The 19-year-old midfielder also had an unconvincing display against Manchester City, particularly in the second half.
In this match, Manchester United led 1-0 in the first half thanks to Rashford’s superb goal. However, the Red Devils collapsed in the second half, conceding three consecutive goals in the 56th, 80th, and 90+1 minutes (Foden scored twice, Haaland scored one).
The victory against Manchester United helps Manchester City maintain their second position in the 2023/24 Premier League table with 62 points, just one point behind the league leaders Liverpool (62 vs. 63). Meanwhile, Manchester United sits sixth with 44 points, and their dreams of qualifying for the Champions League next season seem increasingly uncertain.
