Former Manchester United academy player Bobby Power has passed away at the age of 40. Bobby, known for his portrayal of ‘Gorgeous’ Gordon Burley in the renowned football film ‘There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble’ in 2000, succumbed to pancreatic cancer following a courageous battle. Tributes have swiftly poured in for the father of three.
His daughter, Kaitlyn Eadsforth, fondly reminisced, stating, “He possessed a remarkable outgoing nature. Regardless of his whereabouts, he engaged effortlessly with everyone, resembling a social butterfly in any setting he entered. If he wasn’t at the gym, he was scaling mountains. He derived immense satisfaction from aiding others; it was intrinsic to his character to support individuals both physically and mentally.”
Reflecting on his relentless pursuit for a cure, Bobby’s mother, Estrella Barry, remarked, “He dedicated the remainder of his life to finding a remedy. His primary motivation was to continue living for his daughters, and he spared no effort in this pursuit. He believed that by strengthening himself, he could undergo chemotherapy in Liverpool. Sadly, that aspiration remained unfulfilled.”
Bobby, formerly a member of United’s youth team and later a respected personal trainer in Manchester, passed away in February. His health concerns initially surfaced during a mountaineering excursion, where he experienced uncharacteristic fatigue. Regrettably, he was unable to overcome the debilitating illness.
