Andreas Pereira’s brace secured a rare victory for Fulham against West Ham in the Premier League.
Despite a shaky start, Fulham took an early advantage as Konstantinos Mavropanos failed to handle Alex Iwobi’s clever delivery into the penalty area.
Pereira capitalized on the mistake, skillfully evading Lukasz Fabianski before calmly slotting the ball into an unguarded net.
The Brazilian extended the visitors’ lead by tapping in from close range at the London Stadium.
This marks the first time in two decades that Fulham has emerged victorious in a Premier League match against West Ham.
The triumph also completes Fulham’s league double over the Hammers, a feat they haven’t achieved since the 1965-66 season, and propels them to 12th place in the league standings.
Fulham’s dominant 5-0 victory over West Ham at Craven Cottage in December feels like a distant memory now. The team had struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks, but Pereira’s early goal hinted at a potential goal-scoring spree for the visitors.
Pereira remained a constant threat throughout the match, coming close to scoring with two half-volleys in the first half. Eventually, he found the back of the net by tapping in Iwobi’s pass across the goal.
Rodrigo Muniz also posed a significant danger to West Ham’s defense. However, despite scoring four goals in his previous four games, the Brazilian striker couldn’t maintain his impressive form as Fabianski denied him on three occasions.
This victory has given Marco Silva’s team a glimmer of hope as they narrow the gap to the seventh position in the table, which guarantees a spot in European competition, to just eight points.
