The representative of Jorginho has acknowledged that the midfielder from Arsenal could potentially depart from the club at the conclusion of the season in order to make a comeback to Italy.
Jorginho’s contract will expire at the end of the ongoing season, and discussions regarding a new agreement are believed to have been postponed until the campaign concludes.
Having joined the Gunners from Chelsea in January of the previous year, the 32-year-old has proven to be a valuable asset for Mikel Arteta, especially during Thomas Partey’s extended absence due to injury.
It remains uncertain whether Jorginho will continue his tenure at Emirates Stadium beyond this term, as Joao Santos, the player’s agent, admits that nothing is definite at this stage.
“The team’s strength lies in Arsenal,” Santos informed TMW. “Currently, they are a team leading the Premier League, occupying a position of utmost importance. They are in the Champions League, facing Bayern, and there will be a great deal of excitement until the end of this season.
“He is out of contract with the Gunners, and we will engage in discussions with them because he is performing well. We will determine if they require his services for the upcoming season.”
When questioned about the possibility of Jorginho returning to Serie A, where he previously represented Hellas Verona and Napoli, Santos responded, “This is always the case in football. Jorginho has spent his entire career in Italy, and he greatly enjoys it. Why would he say no?”
Jorginho’s performances for Arsenal have earned him a place in the Italy squad for the upcoming European Championships, where he aims to play a pivotal role in defending the Azzurri’s title.
“I was present at the stadium, witnessing his performance firsthand,” Santos remarked after attending Italy’s recent friendly victory over Ecuador. “Italy is currently on the right track, having secured two important friendly wins in the United States against South American national teams such as Venezuela and Ecuador. Now, the focus is on the European Championship.
“Jorginho lifted the trophy at Wembley, and it is only right to consider the positive aspects of his career, not just the challenging times. That’s how football operates. I hope he lifts the trophy in Germany as well, donning the Italy jersey.”
