Clubs throughout Europe have expressed interest in Graham Potter, but the former Chelsea manager is carefully considering his next managerial position. Potter was dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023 and has engaged in discussions with Dutch club Ajax.
Ajax has been without a permanent manager since October, following the sacking of Maurice Steijn, with John van ‘t Schip serving as an interim manager. The team suffered a 6-0 defeat against rivals Feyenoord last Sunday.
Additionally, Ajax is facing internal issues at the board level, as their chief executive Alex Kroes was suspended for alleged insider trading earlier this month. Potter, who previously managed Brighton and Swansea, is keen on ensuring that his next move aligns with the club’s strategy and long-term vision.
He has also been linked to the managerial position at Manchester United in case of a change in head coach at Old Trafford and Erik ten Hag’s departure. Manchester United’s new sporting director, Dan Ashworth, previously collaborated with Potter during his time at Brighton.
Despite facing criticism for Chelsea’s league performance, Potter did lead the team to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, he left the club before their defeat to Real Madrid last season.
Potter established his reputation at Swedish club Ostersund and Swansea in the Championship before transitioning to the Premier League, where he guided Brighton to a ninth-place finish.
