Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Serie A defenders continues with their latest target being Raoul Bellanova.
Tottenham’s recent activity in the Italian transfer market has been noticeable, with signings such as Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, and Radu Dragusin.
Following the acquisition of Dragusin, Tottenham’s attention has now turned to Bellanova, according to reports from Torino Granata.
Several other clubs, including Napoli, Aston Villa, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Atletico Madrid, are also reportedly interested in securing the services of the Torino defender.
Contact has been made with Bellanova’s agent to explore the possibility of a summer transfer.
Bellanova, aged 23, primarily operates as a right back or right wing back, although he has also featured on the left on occasion.
After spending 13 years in the AC Milan youth setup, Bellanova moved to Bordeaux in 2019, but his stint in France was short-lived, lasting only a few months.
He then embarked on loan spells back to Italy with Atalanta, Pescara, and Cagliari, eventually making a permanent switch to the latter in 2022.
Bellanova’s career path continued with a loan move to Inter Milan last season before signing for Torino.
It is at Torino where Bellanova has truly thrived this season, contributing five assists in Serie A and establishing himself as one of the top wing backs in the league.
As an Italy Under-21 International, Bellanova could provide stiff competition for Pedro Porro as Tottenham’s right back.
Given Emerson Royal’s limited attacking prowess, Bellanova may be better suited to Ange Postecoglou’s system.
Securing Bellanova’s signature won’t be straightforward, given the interest from numerous other clubs. However, Tottenham managed to secure a similar deal with Dragusin, so they may hope to replicate that success in the upcoming transfer window.
