Reports suggest that Liverpool are looking to revamp their midfield by making a club-record offer for Federico Valverde from Real Madrid.
Last summer, Liverpool made significant changes to their midfield by bringing in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo, replacing players like Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Fabinho.
Among the new signings, Mac Allister has stood out, showcasing his versatility as a defensive midfielder and excelling in a more advanced role.
He has become Liverpool’s primary source of creativity, contributing three goals and four assists in his last six matches. However, Liverpool is now aiming to elevate their midfield further by acquiring Valverde.
Recent reports from Spain indicate that Liverpool’s pursuit of the Real Madrid star has intensified. As they prepare to bid farewell to their iconic manager Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool has already submitted a monumental offer for Valverde, surpassing their previous transfer record. The proposed deal is valued at an astonishing €150 million (£129m).
Valverde’s transfer for that amount would establish him as Liverpool’s highest-priced player in history, surpassing the records set by Darwin Nunez (£64m potentially rising to £85m) and Moises Caicedo (£100m potentially rising to £115m), making him the most expensive player in the Premier League as well.
Despite previous interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, Valverde has consistently expressed his satisfaction with being at Madrid. Madrid is reportedly considering selling two high-profile players this summer to cover Kylian Mbappe’s hefty wages and create space for the Frenchman in their team.
Valverde may transfer to Liverpool, while Rodrygo is rumored to be moving to Man Utd. On the other hand, Vinicius Junior could potentially join one of the two top Premier League clubs.
If Liverpool secures Valverde, it would greatly benefit their new manager, with Ruben Amorim being the frontrunner for the position following Xabi Alonso’s rejection.
Nevertheless, acquiring the talented Uruguayan would undoubtedly strain Liverpool’s financial resources to the maximum.
