Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen on recruiting an additional striker this summer due to Rasmus Hojlund’s recent difficulties.
The team currently holds the sixth position in the Premier League, however, their 45 goals in 31 matches are surpassed by 10 other teams in the league.
Despite Hojlund’s impressive six-game scoring streak between December and February, the £72 million ($92m) acquisition has struggled to find the back of the net again after sustaining a muscle injury six weeks ago. Consequently, Ten Hag is looking to bolster the squad’s attacking options.
Ten Hag emphasized the significance of having a reliable scorer for the upcoming season, stating that it would provide valuable assistance.
He further highlighted the necessity of having multiple options and double coverage in each position to avoid being limited by lack of choices, which negatively affected the team’s performance in certain positions during the previous season.
Ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford is currently uncertain. Despite receiving financial support since assuming the role in 2022, their performance has regressed this season.
It is unclear whether he will have the opportunity to bring in the desired players during the next transfer window. Hojlund, aged 21, has netted 13 goals in 34 matches across all competitions. However, it is evident that the ex-Ajax manager is seeking additional attacking prowess moving forward.
