Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer put on a remarkable performance, scoring four goals in a dominant victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Palmer wasted no time in making an impact, opening the scoring in the 13th minute with a superbly curled strike into the bottom corner. He showcased his skill by nutmegging Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite before combining with teammate Nicolas Jackson for a quick one-two.
Just five minutes later, Palmer doubled Chelsea’s lead by heading in a rebound from a shot by Jackson that had been saved by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford.
The 21-year-old completed his hat-trick in style, intercepting a poor pass from Pickford and lobbing the England goalkeeper from an impressive 40 yards out.
Before the first half came to a close, Jackson added to Everton’s misery by volleying in a cut-back from Marc Cucurella. Palmer then sealed his incredible performance by converting a penalty in the 63rd minute, securing his fourth goal of the match.
In the dying moments of the game, substitute Alfie Gilchrist scored his first goal for Chelsea from a tight angle, adding to Everton’s humiliation as Chelsea secured a resounding 6-0 victory.
This win extends Chelsea’s unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight matches, placing them just three points behind seventh-placed Manchester United, who currently occupy the last European spot. Chelsea also have a game in hand over their rivals.
On the other hand, Everton faced this match under the shadow of a two-point deduction for a second breach of Premier League financial rules. Despite their efforts, they remain in 16th place, just two points above the relegation zone.
