Chelsea is reportedly prepared to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City for the acquisition of PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
Bakayoko has been enjoying a successful season with his current club, having scored eight goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions as PSV edge closer to securing the Eredivisie title. Having maintained an unbeaten record in the league after 26 matches played, the Dutch side has only eight games left to maintain their undefeated streak.
At the heart of PSV’s achievements is Bakayoko, a product of the club’s academy who is now attracting interest from several major European clubs ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. According to reports from Sky Germany, Chelsea views the Belgian player as a “top target,” although they will face competition from Manchester City, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old winger is currently under contract until 2026, with no release clause included, which could complicate negotiations for any potential transfer. It is understood that PSV is seeking a transfer fee ranging between €50 million (£42m) and €60 million (£51m) for Bakayoko’s services.
Bakayoko renewed his contract with PSV in February of the previous year, rebuffing interest from PSG, who reportedly made a bid for him during the January 2023 transfer window.
If Chelsea decides to pursue a move for the young winger in the summer, it would mark their second acquisition of an attacking player from PSV in less than a year. The London club had previously signed Noni Madueke in January 2023 and are now beginning to witness his talents flourish during his first full season at Stamford Bridge.
