Enzo Fenandez and Mykhailo Mudryk’s contract extensions have been activated by Chelsea, ensuring their commitment to the club for a minimum of seven more years. These two players were acquired by Stamford Bridge in January 2023, with substantial transfer fees involved.
Mudryk completed his transfer to the Blues from Shakhtar Donetsk for a staggering £97 million and signed a contract that spans over seven and a half years upon his arrival in west London.
On the other hand, Fernandez sealed his move from Benfica for a hefty sum of £107 million and committed to an eight and a half year contract.
Recently, both players had an additional year included in their existing contracts.
Mudryk’s contract is now set to expire in 2031, when he reaches the age of 30, while Fernandez will remain with the club until 2032, when he turns 31.
Last year, Lewis Hall, an academy graduate, had his contract extended, but this summer he is expected to finalize his move to Newcastle on a permanent basis for a fee of £28m. The FA recently disclosed the contract details of all three players in their annual agent payments report.
Additionally, the report highlighted that Chelsea set a new record by spending £75.1m on agent’s fees between February 2023 and 2024. Manchester City and Manchester United also made significant payments, with expenditures of £60.6m and £34m respectively.
