Luton’s hopes of survival in the Premier League were given a significant boost by Carlton Morris’ late winner, as they came from behind to defeat Bournemouth.
Bournemouth took the lead early in the second half through Marcus Tavernier’s well-struck shot from outside the penalty area.
However, Jordan Clark equalized for Luton in the 73rd minute with a clinical finish from inside the box.
In a thrilling finish, Morris secured the victory for the Hatters in the 90th minute, guiding the ball into the net from Cauley Woodrow’s cross.
Despite the win, Luton remains in the relegation zone, only behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest on goal difference. Nottingham Forest will face Tottenham on Sunday.
During the first half, Luton struggled to keep up with Bournemouth’s passing game.
Tavernier came close to scoring for Bournemouth with a superb curling free-kick that hit the woodwork, while Justin Kluivert’s shot grazed the post.
Luton failed to register a shot on target before halftime, but they created three opportunities in quick succession after the break.
Their best chance came when Morris unleashed a powerful shot that was saved by the Bournemouth goalkeeper.
However, it was Bournemouth who broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, with Tavernier finding the back of the net with a swerving shot.
Morris and Alfie Doughty both had attempts on goal for Luton, but it was Clark who capitalized on a defensive error to score his first Premier League goal.
In the tense final moments of the game, Luton displayed a greater desire to win and were rewarded when Morris outmuscled lllia Zabarnyi to score the winning goal from Woodrow’s excellent delivery into the box.
