Burnley’s manager, Vincent Kompany, has received a two-match touchline suspension after his red card against Chelsea on 30 March.
He will immediately serve a one-game ban, with the other match suspended until the end of the year. Kompany was dismissed for protesting against a penalty decision that resulted in Lorenz Assignon being sent off.
The Belgian expressed his disappointment with the standard of refereeing in this season’s Premier League. Additionally, the former Manchester City captain, 38, admitted to the charge of misconduct and was fined £10,000.
Kompany acknowledged his mistake and stated that his emotional outburst did not reflect his true feelings towards the official. The Clarets will face Brighton at Turf Moor on Saturday, during which Kompany will serve his one-game ban.
Despite the setback, Kompany expressed confidence in his coaching staff and players to rise to the challenge. Burnley currently sits in 19th place in the Premier League, six points away from safety.
