Arsenal’s defender, Ben White, has expressed his commitment to the club following the signing of a new long-term contract with the Gunners. The extension of White’s contract, confirmed by Arsenal on Thursday morning, is understood to secure his services until 2028, with an additional option for a further 12 months.
White, who previously joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021, was originally contracted until 2026. However, the Gunners sought to recognize his significance within the squad by offering him an improved deal.
The 26-year-old, an England international, maintained an impeccable attendance record in the Premier League last season and has been a consistent performer this season, contributing two goals and four assists in 27 top-flight matches. Moreover, he has featured in all eight of Arsenal’s Champions League fixtures to date.
Notably, White recently marked a milestone for Arsenal by scoring the club’s 10,000th competitive goal in their 6-0 victory over Sheffield United. He further demonstrated his influence by providing two assists in Arsenal’s 2-1 triumph over Bournemouth.
In a statement to Arsenal’s media channels following the contract signing, White expressed his delight, emphasizing his attachment to the club and his pride in the achievement. Discussions between White’s representatives and Arsenal had been ongoing for several months, with both parties harboring confidence in reaching an agreement.
Reflecting on his tenure at Arsenal, White recalled feeling settled at the club during the pre-season after his arrival. He highlighted the team’s growing confidence and ambition, stressing their collective determination to strive for success.
Despite facing occasional injury setbacks, White has been a pivotal figure for Arsenal, missing only one top-flight match this season. His contract renewal aligns with Arsenal’s strategy of securing key players, with several other players, including Jorginho and Takehiro Tomiyasu, reportedly in line for new deals.
