Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou expressed his desire for a “joystick” to control his players, similar to a video game, following their draw against West Ham.
The frustration was evident for the Spurs boss as his team missed out on the opportunity to secure a spot in the top four of the Premier League at the rain-soaked London Stadium.
Brennan Johnson’s early goal gave them the lead, but West Ham equalized through Kurt Zouma’s header from a corner. Both teams displayed effort but lacked the cutting edge needed to secure a victory.
Despite dominating possession with 68%, Tottenham only managed four shots on target, including Johnson’s goal and Destiny Udogie’s late attempt that was saved by Lukasz Fabianski.
It became clear that they were unlikely to achieve the two-goal margin required to surpass fourth-placed Aston Villa, who will face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
As a result, Postecoglou’s side remains in fifth place, trailing Villa by two points. The Australian manager acknowledged that his team lacked “clarity of thought” at times in their attacking play.
