Reports suggest that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are preparing to compete with Premier League clubs in the race to secure the services of Leeds United’s promising young talent, Archie Gray.
Having joined Leeds at the tender age of eight, Gray has made significant strides within the club’s academy system, culminating in his first-team debut for the Whites in August 2023.
Throughout the 2023-24 season, the 18-year-old has made a notable impact, featuring in 43 matches for his Championship side. Impressively, he has played 38 times in the second tier of English football, contributing with a goal and two assists.
Gray’s remarkable run of form in the Championship has seen him avoid defeat since Boxing Day, with Leeds currently in exceptional shape. They have climbed to second place in the table, trailing the leaders Ipswich Town by just one point.
Earlier this year, Gray committed his future to Leeds by signing a new contract that will keep him at Elland Road until June 2028. This puts the Whites in a highly advantageous position when it comes to securing his long-term services.
Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United have all expressed their interest in the young player, while Tottenham Hotspur is closely monitoring his situation. However, according to HITC, Bayern and Real Madrid are also in pursuit of Gray and are considering making offers during the upcoming transfer window.
The report states that both clubs had scouts present to observe Gray’s performance against Hull City on Monday, where he played the entire 90 minutes in Leeds’ 3-1 victory.
Although Gray has primarily played as a right-back throughout the 2023-24 season, he was deployed in central midfield in the recent match against Hull. This shift in position suggests that his future may lie in the midfield.
