Barcelona is making efforts to persuade Xavi to continue in his role as head coach. The club legend successfully led the Catalan giants to the La Liga title last season, despite facing financial challenges.
However, this season has been more challenging due to a poor start, prompting Xavi to announce his decision to step down at the end of 2023-24 in January. This move sparked mixed reactions, especially after six defeats in December and January.
Nevertheless, Barcelona’s season has since improved both domestically and in Europe, with the dark clouds over Camp Nou or their temporary home at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium dissipating.
Barcelona have managed to turn things around after their defeat to Villarreal, going on an impressive 11-match unbeaten streak across all competitions. During this period, they have secured eight wins and three draws, only conceding seven goals in the process.
Xavi’s team has also outperformed Real Madrid in the last nine league games, although by just two points. Additionally, Barcelona now hold a significant 10-point lead over Girona, placing them in second position in the La Liga standings.
Their recent victory against Napoli in the Champions League last 16 further highlights their strong form, which may entice Xavi to extend his stay at the club.
