RB Leipzig is purportedly encountering a challenge in retaining the services of Dani Olmo during the upcoming summer transfer window, with prominent football clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United expressing interest in acquiring his talents. Despite contending with injury setbacks throughout the 2023-24 season, the 25-year-old forward has notably contributed seven goals and four assists in 19 appearances across various competitions.
Having extended his contract with Leipzig in June of the previous year, Olmo’s current agreement is set to expire in June 2027. Nevertheless, speculations persist regarding his future, fueled by the reported interest from several esteemed clubs worldwide.
According to sources cited by Fichajes, Barcelona is aggressively pursuing the reacquisition of the Spanish international, exhibiting confidence in their financial capability to secure his transfer despite the club’s existing off-field challenges. Allegedly receptive to a potential return to Camp Nou, Olmo finds himself amidst a tug-of-war between Real Madrid and Manchester United for his services, with Manchester City also purportedly monitoring the situation closely.
Olmo’s football journey traces back to his formative years within Barcelona’s youth ranks from 2007 to 2014, before his departure at the age of 16 to join Dinamo Zagreb in 2014. His stint with the Croatian club spanned 124 appearances, during which he amassed 34 goals and 28 assists.
The subsequent move to Leipzig in 2020 marked a significant chapter in Olmo’s career, featuring prominently in 142 outings for the German side and contributing 28 goals and 33 assists along the way.
A versatile attacker, Olmo remains an integral part of the Spanish national team, accumulating 32 caps and showcasing his proficiency with seven goals and seven assists to his name. Presently, he is in preparation with the Spain squad for forthcoming friendlies against Colombia and Brazil, with the fixture against Colombia scheduled at West Ham United’s London Stadium on Friday night.
Notably, Olmo’s existing contract reportedly contains a release clause set at €60 million (£51.5 million), a figure unlikely to deter potential suitors.
Despite his ability to operate across various attacking roles, Olmo has predominantly featured on the right flank for Leipzig since his return from injury earlier this year.
