Leaked images of Barcelona’s 2024/25 home kit by Nike have surfaced online, offering a nod to one of the club’s most beloved designs from the past. In celebration of their upcoming 125th anniversary in November, the new kit draws inspiration from Barcelona’s iconic 100-year anniversary shirt worn during the 1998/99 season.
According to reports from Footy Headlines, the upcoming kit will depart from the traditional stripes, instead featuring red-and-blue halves with alternating sleeves. The design will be complemented by navy blue trim, while the Nike and Spotify sponsor logos will be presented in gold.
To mark the special occasion, Barcelona will utilize a unique logo commemorating their 125th anniversary, replacing the regular crest on the shirt. Although the specific design of this variant has not yet been confirmed by the club, the standard badge will be relocated to the center to maintain symmetry across the red and blue halves.
Despite Nike’s longstanding partnership with Barcelona since 1998, the sportswear giant faces stiff competition to retain the club’s kit manufacturing contract. Puma has emerged as a potential rival bidder, while there are also discussions about Barcelona potentially producing their own kits in-house, a move that would set them apart as one of the first major clubs to do so.
Interestingly, despite recent reports from UEFA indicating Barcelona’s staggering £153m revenue from merchandising, negotiations for a new kit deal remain uncertain. Nike has been Barcelona’s primary kit supplier since 1998, following previous partnerships with Meyba (1982-1992) and Kappa (1992-1998).
