Atalanta continues to express interest in acquiring the services of Birmingham midfielder Jordan James and holds optimism that the English club will revise their valuation during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Serie A side has been actively monitoring the performance of the Wales international for a considerable period and engaged in advanced negotiations for his acquisition during the January transfer window. Despite these efforts, Atalanta refrained from meeting Birmingham’s initial asking price of €10 million, with hopes pinned on a potential reduction in the forthcoming transfer period.
As reported in the Wednesday edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 20, Birmingham’s precarious position in the English Championship, where they are battling for survival, suggests a willingness to reconsider their valuation for the talented midfielder, irrespective of their relegation outcome. Additionally, with James’ contract set to expire in June 2025, Atalanta maintains confidence in securing his services for a figure below the €10 million mark post-June.
James, who has been selected for Wales’ Euro 2024 Qualifying Playoffs, boasts eight senior international caps. His contributions for Birmingham this season have seen him register eight goals in 41 appearances across various competitions.
