Reports suggest that an Arsenal standout is discontented at the club and may seek an exit during the upcoming summer transfer window, regardless of the team’s performance in the Premier League.
Under the management of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has enjoyed a successful season, currently occupying third place in the Premier League standings, trailing Manchester City by a single point and Liverpool by two.
Despite a setback in the Champions League with a loss in the first leg of their round of 16 tie against Porto, Arsenal remains the favorite to advance to the quarter-finals.
However, looking ahead to the summer, rumors indicate that Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is unsettled at the club. According to reports from Football Transfers, via Caught Offside, preparations are underway at the North London club for Ramsdale’s potential departure. David Raya has purportedly been identified as the preferred choice for the number-one goalkeeper position.
Furthermore, Arsenal is said to have earmarked Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj as a potential replacement for Ramsdale.
According to journalist Steve Kay, who wrote: “Arsenal also liked him [Ramaj] when he was at Eintracht Frankfurt. He’s good on the ball which is something Mikel Arteta certainly wants. He’s also excellent at long balls to the attackers and could be the perfect back-up at Arsenal.”
Despite starting the season as Arteta’s first choice, Ramsdale was quickly replaced by Raya in September.
Since then, the Englishman has only featured in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Speaking about Ramsale’s future recently, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said: “Despite more Ramsdale to Chelsea stories, there is nothing to report at this point, to be honest.
“In January when we had rumours on Ramsdale and Chelsea I was told: no interest. We will see what happens in the summer but Chelsea are not working on Ramsdale or any other goalkeeper deal right now.”
With his minutes limited this season, Ramsdale could find himself left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of EURO 2024, which takes place in Germany in the summer.
