According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are prepared to sell left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko in the upcoming transfer window, which is a somewhat unexpected move.
The Gunners acquired Zinchenko from their rivals Manchester City last season, and he impressed in his debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium. However, he has failed to maintain his level of performance in his second season under Mikel Arteta.
Zinchenko has been plagued by injuries and poor form, and Arsenal are reportedly ready to accept offers of around €45million for him this summer. Newcastle United are interested in bringing Zinchenko to St James’ Park, while Bayern Munich could also make a bid for the Ukrainian international.
Arsenal may regret letting go of Zinchenko, the unique left-back
Zinchenko might not be missed by many Gunners fans, who have seen him make some poor defensive choices as an inverted full-back for the club.
Still, the 27-year-old Ukraine international has a lot to offer in that role, with his smart play, excellent technique and superb passing skills when he moves into the centre.
On the other hand, some Arsenal fans could point out that the team has been more stable and solid in defence without him, as Jakub Kiwior has filled in the left-back spot admirably during his injury.
