Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber is progressing in his recovery from a knee injury that has sidelined him for much of the season.
The Dutch defender, who joined the Gunners from Ajax during the summer transfer window, had a promising start to his Arsenal career, making his debut in the Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest. However, his season took a sudden halt when he suffered an ACL injury during that match, forcing him to exit the field prematurely.
Since then, Timber has been sidelined as he underwent rehabilitation for the serious knee injury. Nevertheless, there is now positive news on his road to recovery, as he has resumed training with his teammates.
Although Timber has not yet returned to full training sessions, his integration back into group activities signifies a significant step forward in his rehabilitation process. The 22-year-old is now participating in controlled training sessions alongside his fellow players.
While there is still some way to go before Timber can make a full return to competitive action, there remains optimism within the Arsenal camp regarding his potential involvement before the season’s conclusion. Manager Mikel Arteta is hopeful that Timber’s recovery will continue smoothly, potentially offering him the chance to contribute on the pitch in the latter stages of the campaign.
‘I really hope so, he’s doing really well,’ said Arteta on the potential return for Timber this season. ‘He’s been around some players on the pitch and we are going to start to do some bits with us in the next week or so.
‘Then we need to see how that evolves, his confidence levels, his fitness levels and hopefully then the answer is “yes”.’
