According to transfer analyst Dean Jones, Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Donyell Malen this summer.
Arsenal are eyeing a summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen, who has rediscovered his scoring touch after a disappointing start to his Bundesliga career. The Dutch winger, who joined Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven in 2021, was on the verge of leaving the club in January, but no suitable offers came his way.
Malen has since scored six goals in his last six games in all competitions, attracting the attention of the Gunners, who are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer. According to GiveMeSport’s Jones, Arsenal have also identified Michael Olise, Pedro Neto and Nico Williams as possible targets, but they are likely to demand high fees.
The report suggests that Arsenal see Malen as a more affordable alternative, and are planning to keep tabs on his form and availability in the coming months. Jones claims that Dortmund could be willing to part ways with the 24-year-old for around £26 million, which would fit Arsenal’s budget.
Arsenal currently rely on Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka to provide width and creativity in their attack, with Leandro Trossard occasionally filling in, but mostly playing in other roles. The addition of Malen, who can operate on both flanks, would give Mikel Arteta more options and quality in the final third.
