Max Allegri celebrates his 500th Serie A match and confirms Juventus’ tactical shift to a 4-3-3 formation against Lazio, citing recent ‘performances’ as supportive of the change. The encounter between these teams in the Coppa Italia semi-final on April 2 and 23 marks the beginning of several anticipated clashes.
Allegri emphasized the importance of enthusiasm in achieving favorable results, stressing the need to rediscover it. He noted that the recent shortcomings have primarily been in achieving desired outcomes rather than in performances.
“We must exert ourselves diligently today, recognizing the challenge ahead and striving to return to winning ways,” Allegri conveyed to DAZN.
There are indications that Allegri is yielding to pressure by transitioning from the 3-5-2 to the 4-3-3 formation, although he acknowledged the flexibility of utilizing the same players in the previous system.
“We have players like Cambiaso and Chiesa who can contribute defensively, particularly Cambiaso. However, our priority is maintaining solidity when out of possession, as demonstrated in our most recent fixture,” he stated.
Dusan Vlahovic serves a suspension, while Arkadiusz Milik, Filip Kostic, Alex Sandro, and Carlos Alcaraz are sidelined due to injuries. Nevertheless, Mattia De Sciglio makes his return eleven months after undergoing knee surgery.
Allegri’s milestone match also raises questions about his future at Juventus, especially amidst recent downturns in results. Despite having secured 301 victories in his Serie A tenure thus far, doubts loom over his continued presence on the Bianconeri bench.
“We find ourselves in a moment where consecutive setbacks have hindered our progress after being in close pursuit of Inter. Particularly concerning is the loss of ground in relation to fifth place, which holds paramount importance. Nevertheless, we maintain an eight-point lead over Roma with nine matches remaining,” Allegri assured.
“In the interim, we must focus on each match as it comes, aiming for a strong performance today and preparing diligently for the forthcoming crucial encounter on Tuesday.”
