Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has recently been the subject of transfer speculation in Brazil, particularly regarding a potential move to his hometown club, SC Internacional. However, such rumors have been promptly dismissed by his agent.
SC Internacional is reportedly seeking a new goalkeeper, leading to tentative reports suggesting Alisson’s return to the club. Nonetheless, his agent has refuted these claims after being approached by local news outlet Revisita Colorada.
According to Alisson’s agent, Zé Maria, there has been no contact regarding a transfer, and such a move is deemed impossible at the present time. This update is likely to reassure Liverpool fans.
Alisson’s career trajectory saw him rise through the ranks at the Internacional academy before departing for Roma in 2016. He subsequently made a notable transfer to Anfield two years later, where he swiftly established himself as a key figure in Liverpool’s successes in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Despite Alisson’s strong ties to his former club, where he occasionally utilizes their training facilities during international breaks, his current focus remains with Liverpool. However, due to a hamstring injury sustained in training just before Liverpool’s fixture against Brentford on February 17, he is temporarily sidelined.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp expressed concern over Alisson’s injury ahead of the Brentford game, stating that the goalkeeper had withdrawn from the last training session. The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, as it pertains to a muscle injury.
“We have to wait. How it always is, maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow we will know more.”
In a pre-Carabao Cup final briefing last weekend, assistant manager Pep Ljinders disclosed that Alisson Becker would be sidelined due to a muscular injury for a duration of several weeks. Ljinders elaborated, stating, “Ali sustained a muscle injury following the international break. Recovery will necessitate a significant period.”
Consequently, Alisson will not participate in the upcoming fixtures for the Brazil national team and is expected to be unavailable for Liverpool until at least March 31. Nonetheless, manager Jurgen Klopp has emphasized that Alisson’s season is not concluded.
During Alisson’s absence, Caoimhín Kelleher has deputized admirably, showcasing commendable performances. Nevertheless, with Kelleher’s noteworthy displays and Alisson’s return imminent, speculation regarding the Irish goalkeeper’s potential departure is likely to intensify.
When questioned about Kelleher’s status and ongoing transfer speculations earlier this week, Klopp remarked, “Engaging in discussions with players who are prepared for such opportunities is a customary aspect of football.”
“An outfield player in a situation like Caoimhin would never come and talk about these sorts of perspectives because they have ten other positions. With a goalkeeper it is slightly different, but it never reached a point whereby it was, ‘You have to stay, shut up’.
“It was just the normal discussion about his future. The most important thing was we had to help him on the next step in his development by playing more games. I think he would be happy with the decision he made in the summer.
“For me, there was no chance of him leaving, so I was not interested in who was asking. It would have had to be a proper price to give us a chance of doing something in a difficult market.
“It is not like other goalkeepers moving from A to B for £15million or £20million. That is totally unrealistic and nonsense.”
