Serie A sports judge Gerardo Mastrandrea is anticipated to deliver his verdict today in the case of alleged racism involving Inter’s Francesco Acerbi and Napoli’s Juan Jesus.
On March 17th, during the final moments of the 1-1 draw between Inter and Napoli, Juan Jesus reported to referee Federico La Penna that Acerbi had racially insulted him. This incident led to the defender’s withdrawal from the Italian national team, and both players were subsequently questioned by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
Acerbi faces the possibility of receiving a 10-match suspension if found guilty of racially abusing Juan Jesus. Reports vary regarding Inter’s potential response, with some speculating that the defender could be released at the conclusion of the season.
TMW has underscored that Serie A sports judge Mastrandrea is expected to announce his decision in the racism case within the next few hours, determining whether the Inter defender is culpable and warrants disciplinary action.
Acerbi, the Italian center back, has consistently asserted his innocence, stating that he told Juan Jesus he would “beat him black and blue,” rather than using the alleged racial slur.
Furthermore, there exists the possibility that Acerbi may receive a shorter suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct if the accusations of racist abuse are not substantiated.
