AC Milan is poised to explore options in the striker market this upcoming summer, prompted by reports indicating Olivier Giroud’s potential transfer negotiations with LAFC. The Serie A outfit is contemplating a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gonçalo Ramos.
Recent discussions have highlighted the Portuguese forward as a prospective target for the Italian club. Furthermore, Ramos’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is prepared to advocate for his client’s candidacy as a replacement for the departing French striker.
Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, in conversation with RadioRossonera, emphasized AC Milan’s longstanding admiration for Ramos, tracing back to his tenure at SL Benfica. This historical interest substantiates the likelihood of Milan’s pursuit of Ramos.
Longo remarked, “According to our information, discussions with Milan are expected in the coming weeks.” He added, “Ramos is a player whom the Rossoneri have previously admired during his tenure at Benfica. It is plausible that Milan is receptive to exploring possibilities regarding his acquisition.”
However, navigating a potential deal could pose challenges, given PSG’s reluctance to offload players to prominent clubs, particularly on loan terms. Longo underscored Milan’s preference for securing Ramos through a loan arrangement or under economically favorable conditions.
In November, PSG activated a release clause, agreeing to a fee potentially amounting to €80 million, inclusive of add-ons, to acquire Ramos from his former club, as reported by GOAL. Consequently, PSG’s valuation of Ramos sets a significant benchmark, raising questions about the feasibility of a transfer and Milan’s financial capacity to meet such demands.
The overarching consideration in the ensuing months will revolve around PSG’s willingness to sell Ramos and whether AC Milan can negotiate a deal approaching the €80 million valuation set by the French champions.
