After testing positive for a banned substance, Paul Pogba faces a four-year suspension from football.
The World Cup winner was found to have DHEA in his system, a substance that can boost testosterone levels and enhance athletic performance. He was temporarily banned in September when his initial sample revealed the violation.
Pogba, who received a four-year ban for doping, has been offered a chance to play in a Russian celebrity league. The Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office had asked for the ban, which Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal approved earlier this month. Pogba announced that he would appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. He said he would reveal his full story “when I am free of legal restrictions”.
The ban would end when the player is 34 years old, which puts his football career in jeopardy.
However, according to Tuttosport, Pogba has got an offer from Broke Boys, a team in the Media Football League. This is a championship where teams are made up of celebrities, such as actors and influencers.
Artjom Chatjaturjan, the sporting director of Broke Boys, claimed that he had contacted the French star.
“It may seem like a joke, but we called him.” He told Tuttosport. “So far he has politely refused. He is in a desperate moment and needs time to accept it, Pogba is one of the best footballers in world and won’t be able to play for that long.”
Chatjaturjan allegedly sent a letter to Pogba and his agent Rafaela Pimenta in which he proposed a salary of £1,167 a month and some benefits if Pogba decided to join his league in Russia.
The contract would allegedly include ‘luxury’ accommodation, not shared with other players in Odintsovo.
