Juventus captain Danilo emphasized collective responsibility for the team’s recent string of disappointing outcomes, asserting that despite the setbacks, the Bianconeri remain steadfast in pursuit of their objectives. The Brazilian defender conveyed these sentiments during an interview with DAZN subsequent to a 2-2 draw against Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
In their preceding seven fixtures, Juventus secured victory only once, while conceding a total of 11 goals. Notably, this marks the first instance under the management of Massimiliano Allegri where the team has conceded two goals in each of their last four league encounters.
“We work all week, we put in a lot of commitment and sacrifice. Right now, we must take responsibility, especially the most experienced players,” Danilo said as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.
“The whole team knows how to defend, but we know this is a tricky moment that can make us grow. Surely, we must think we can turn things around next week.”
Have Juventus players lost motivation following their loss to Inter in February?
“The motivation must come from the target of reaching the Champions League. It’s the same target, nothing has changed,” Danilo replied.
“Surely, it’s a difficult moment as you can see from their second goal. The ball passed through our feet.
“I am not here to say that a teammate made an error, it’s the whole team. Defenders must think about this because we are responsible for protecting the goal, but I have nothing to say to the guys,” concluded the Juventus captain.
In the initial half, Atalanta surged ahead with a goal by Teun Koopmeiners, a player targeted by Juventus. However, Juventus managed to seize the lead in the subsequent half with goals from Andrea Cambiaso and Arek Milik. Koopmeiners equalized the score with another goal at the 75th minute mark.
Meanwhile, Milan ascended above Juventus to secure the second position by defeating Empoli 1-0 at the San Siro stadium.
Juventus is slated to play their next match at home, facing off against Genoa led by Alberto Gilardino.
