Mathys Tel, the 18-year-old forward who was on Manchester United’s radar, has snubbed the Red Devils by signing a new deal with Bayern Munich that will keep him at the German club until 2029.
The young talent has decided to remain loyal to the Bavarians, where he has been playing since 2021.
Bayern’s sporting director expressed his delight in a club statement, saying: “We are very pleased that Mathys Tel has extended his contract with FC Bayern..”
“He is an important building block for the future of this team, with him we already have the next generation of FC Bayern in our squad.
“Mathys came to Munich as a young player and, at the age of 18, has already gained important experience at the highest level. He will make a lot of exclamation marks – here, at FC Bayern.”
Tel was reportedly unhappy with his limited role at the German powerhouse, which led to rumours of a possible exit from the club.
In February, some reports claimed that Manchester United had shown interest in the player. However, his new contract at Bayern has put an end to those speculations.
