According to recent reports, there is mounting confidence within Manchester City that they will secure the signing of Jamal Musiala during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The offensive midfielder from Bayern Munich has emerged as a target for prominent English clubs Liverpool and Chelsea, with indications that the Premier League champions may possess an advantageous position in securing his services.
According to sources cited by the Daily Star, Musiala purportedly rejected an offer for a contract extension with Bayern Munich, thereby fueling speculation regarding his potential departure.
Both Manchester City and Liverpool have reportedly expressed interest in recruiting Musiala during the upcoming summer transfer window. Scouting representatives from each club were present during Bayern Munich’s recent fixture against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
Despite Bayern Munich’s efforts to retain Musiala by offering a lucrative £150,000-per-week contract extension until June 2026, the 21-year-old German international, who has accumulated 25 caps, is said to have communicated his decision to not renew his contract to Manchester City last week. Musiala, a product of the Chelsea academy, boasts over 150 appearances for Bayern Munich and has been a key contributor this season, tallying four assists and nine goals in 28 matches.
Although Liverpool has reportedly shown interest in Musiala, reports suggest that Manchester City is increasingly confident about securing his signature. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s pursuit of the midfielder may be contingent upon their qualification for European competitions.
The anticipated transfer fee for Musiala is expected to exceed £80 million, accompanied by a potential weekly wage of up to £200,000, surpassing his current estimated salary of £90,000 per week at Bayern Munich.
Musiala has previously hinted at the prospect of a move to the Premier League, stating, “The Premier League is the strongest and most attractive league in the world at the moment, but I feel comfortable here and am focused on being successful with Bayern. But you never know what will happen in a few years.”
With Musiala’s form reaching new heights at 21 years old, his potential addition to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City would furnish the team with one of the most promising young talents in football. The prospect of integrating Musiala alongside Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and other burgeoning stars could present a formidable challenge for opposing defenders.
