Barcelona’s 25-year partnership with American kit supplier Nike may be nearing its end as the Catalan club expresses dissatisfaction with the arrangement.
Nike has been manufacturing Barcelona’s kits since 1998, with a contract in place until 2028, marking a potential 30-year collaboration.
Throughout the years, Nike has crafted iconic kits worn by legendary players such as Ronaldinho, Andres Iniesta, and Lionel Messi, cementing its association with Barcelona.
Despite the lucrative nature of their current deal, bringing in a minimum of €100m (£85million) annually with potential bonuses, Barcelona’s hierarchy reportedly feels undervalued and discontent with the quality of Nike’s products since the agreement’s signing in 2018.
As a result, alternative suppliers such as New Balance and Puma have emerged as potential candidates to replace Nike, according to Spanish publication Sport.
While the outcome of Barcelona’s relationship with Nike remains uncertain, the club’s status in the market ensures they will have no shortage of interested parties should they decide to explore new kit supplier options.
