Joana Sanz, former wife of Dani Alves, inadvertently shared a heartfelt letter penned by the disgraced Brazilian footballer from prison, before swiftly removing the post from social media. Alves, 40, was recently sentenced to four-and-a-half years behind bars for his involvement in an assault incident at a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.
In the letter, which surfaced briefly on social media, Alves implored Sanz for forgiveness and expressed profound gratitude for her unwavering support throughout his ordeal. As reported by Vogue, the footballer professed his enduring love for Sanz and commended her resilience during the turbulent times.
Alves conveyed his deep longing to traverse life’s journey hand in hand with Sanz, acknowledging her indispensable presence in every facet of his existence. Despite the tumultuous circumstances, the letter exuded sentiments of love and remorse, with Alves affirming Sanz’s irreplaceable role in his life.
In one poignant excerpt from the letter, Alves expressed, “What I dreamed of and what I continue to dream of. I want to take all the paths with you. I didn’t have the wrong woman, yes, it was you.” Though the post was swiftly deleted from Instagram, it offered a glimpse into the personal struggles and emotions of the embattled footballer during his time in prison.
‘There is not a single day, not a single moment, not a single plan in which you are not there. I pray every day for the day to come that I can see you wake up.’
‘Nostalgia is not about not being able to do it now. Wherever, whatever, whatever, but with you always by my side. I feel strange feelings. I love you.’
Sanz initially shared the heartfelt love note on her Instagram page back in September, but promptly removed it, citing the accidental public posting intended solely for her close circle of friends.
In the wake of Alves’ sentencing to prison and the subsequent court order to compensate the victim with £130,000 (150,000 euros), reports from Spain suggest that Alves could potentially be released as early as July 20, having served one-third of his term.
Speculation surrounds the possibility of the former Barcelona star being granted provisional release to partake in work or other activities during the daytime, with a requirement to return to confinement at night, in compliance with Spanish legal provisions.
Additionally, there exists the possibility of Dani Alves exchanging a portion of his sentence for expulsion to Brazil, a legal avenue explained by lawyer Agustín Martínez Becerra. However, such requests are contingent upon a second-instance court decision, which hinges on Alves pursuing a successful appeal.
Throughout his illustrious career, the disgraced star enjoyed two stints at Barcelona and also donned the jerseys of Sevilla, Juventus, PSG, and Sao Paulo, accumulating a wealth of trophies and accolades along the way.
Notably, Alves etched his name in the annals of football history as the oldest player to represent Brazil at the World Cup, a feat achieved during the tournament held in Qatar in December 2022.
