According to Webuild CEO Massimo Ferrari, the redevelopment works for the Stadio Meazza are anticipated to span six months over a two-year period. Despite this, both Inter and Milan football clubs remain hesitant about committing to staying at San Siro. In an interview with Rai Sport conducted on Wednesday, Ferrari elucidated on Webuild’s strategic plan for the redevelopment of San Siro.
“We’d need to work from June until August for two years, asking to reschedule just one game. The first one [of the season] or the last one,” he said.
“To raise the stadium income for the two clubs, we need to work on VIP customers, sponsors and services outside the stadium and nearby. The VIP area would be built between the first and the second tier, developing it outside with preferential access to the pitch.”
Milan’s Mayor Giuseppe Sala recently convened with directors from Inter and Milan to apprise them of ongoing initiatives aimed at the redevelopment of San Siro stadium.
Reported by Calciomercato.com, however, indications suggest that both Milanese clubs remain hesitant regarding the prospect of continuing operations at San Siro. Instead, they express a preference for constructing new, club-owned stadiums elsewhere within Milan.
The Rossoneri have secured land in San Donato, situated just beyond Lombardy’s capital, while Inter is advancing their own plans in Rozzano.
The commencement date and certainty of the projects to establish new stadiums for Inter and Milan remain uncertain. Meanwhile, Mayor Beppe Sala endeavors fervently to sway the two Serie A powerhouses into retaining their presence at San Siro.
