In a recent report by journalist Florian Plettenberg, it has been suggested that Roberto De Zerbi is being considered as one of Bayern Munich’s potential alternatives to Xabi Alonso. Additionally, De Zerbi is reportedly held in high regard by Barcelona.
De Zerbi is currently contracted with Brighton until June 2026, however, several top European clubs are rumored to be interested in securing his services during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Following speculation linking him with Liverpool and Barcelona, Bayern Munich has emerged as another contender for the Italian coach’s services for the 2024-25 season.
According to Florian Plettenberg’s statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, it has been indicated that Bayern Munich is actively monitoring De Zerbi, although Xabi Alonso remains their primary target.
While Xabi Alonso is reportedly at the top of Bayern Munich’s wishlist for the next season, in the event that negotiations with the former midfielder falter, De Zerbi is purportedly among the leading candidates to fill the coaching position.
Moreover, Plettenberg mentions that Max Eberl, the new Board Member for Sport at Bayern Munich, holds a favorable opinion of De Zerbi.
In addition to Bayern Munich’s interest, it is confirmed that Barcelona also has a desire to acquire De Zerbi’s services, with the Italian coach being highly esteemed at Camp Nou.
