Erik ten Hag is still the manager of Manchester United, but that does not mean new minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not considering his options
Zinedine Zidane is rumored to be Manchester United’s top choice if Sir Jim Ratcliffe decides to replace Erik ten Hag as manager.
Despite a recent streak of five consecutive victories, United suffered a setback with a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham in their last Premier League match. This result has led to speculation among fans and pundits regarding Ten Hag’s suitability for the United managerial position.
It’s believed that Ratcliffe, who recently acquired a 27.7% stake in United, will wait until the end of the season before making any decisions regarding Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford. If a change is deemed necessary, Zidane could be the preferred candidate.
According to reports from French outlet Footmercato, Ratcliffe would turn to the esteemed French football legend Zidane. Zidane, who left his role as Real Madrid manager in 2021, boasts an impressive managerial record, including two La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies, and two Club World Cups.
Ineos chief Jean-Claude Blanc is said to be a great admirer of Zidane, who was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure.
Zidane is reportedly waiting for the right opportunity before returning to elite football management. However, for now, Ten Hag remains in charge at Manchester United.
