Diego Simeone staunchly defended his team following their latest disappointing outcome on Saturday.
Coming off a hard-fought loss against Inter Milan in the Champions League earlier in the week, Atlético Madrid shifted their focus back to domestic affairs, facing Almería at the Power Horse Stadium.
Despite an early goal from Ángel Correa, expectations of an easy victory were shattered as Almería fought back twice to level the score. With the match ending in a draw, Atlético find themselves just three points ahead of Athletic Club in the La Liga standings, having played an additional game.
Speaking to the media post-match, Diego Simeone, as a result, was unsurprisingly drawn on his side’s wretched form on the road.
Across the season to date, the capital outfit have managed to piece together a paltry five points from an available 24 away from the Wanda Metropolitano.
And Simeone, for his part, is in no two minds when it comes to the individual at fault:
“Because the coach sets up the matches poorly,” the Argentine’s precise response.
