Despite a 2-0 defeat to Lazio in Serie A, Torino coach Ivan Juric expressed pride in his team’s performance and remains confident in their ability to achieve success.
Goals from Matteo Guendouzi and Danilo Cataldi condemned Torino to their second consecutive Serie A defeat, leaving them in 10th place, level on points with Napoli but having played one game more. However, Juric chose to focus on the positives.
“I’m proud,” he declared at the post-match press conference. “Football can be like this. It’s one of the best matches we’ve played since I’ve been here. There are no regrets when you play like we did.”
Juric praised his players’ commitment and tactical discipline, highlighting their ability to dominate possession and create chances. “We didn’t throw the towel in,” he emphasized. “They didn’t cross the half-way line for an hour. We need to improve in front of goal, but the performance was there.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Roma, Juric acknowledged the challenge they pose but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to compete. “They’re doing things differently under De Rossi,” he said. “It will be a good challenge. I have a feeling we will compete, we have to be at our best because they are stronger than us on paper, but we can and will compete.”
Juric’s optimism extends beyond this weekend’s fixture. He believes that if Torino can maintain their current level of performance, they will be rewarded with victories in the future. “Congratulations to the boys,” he said. “We have to be aware of what we can achieve and put our focus into the next match. We will win a lot of games if we play like we did tonight.”
