The Daily Star reports that Manchester City scouted Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala during their Bundesliga showdown last week.
Liverpool has been connected with both 20-year-olds, but City is apparently set to join the fight to recruit both.
Wirtz has been a revelation for Leverkusen this season, with eight goals and 16 assists in 30 games. Wirtz operates as an attacking midfielder, often deployed in the number 10 role. He thrives in positions where he can showcase his exceptional technical skills, vision, and creativity. He possesses a wand of a left foot and is known for his ability to unlock defenses with incisive passes, dribbling runs, and long-range shots.
Musiala primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, often in the number 10 role similar to Wirtz. However, his versatility allows him to play as a winger or even a second striker. He showcases incredible dribbling skills, agility, and pace, allowing him to break through defenses and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. His finishing ability is also impressive.
City manager Pep Guardiola is prepared to move for both Germany internationals in the summer, fully aware that a deal will cost roughly €100 million apiece.
