Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, is anticipating an exceptional night in the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Atleti emerged victorious in their home leg with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Rodrigo de Paul and Samuel Lino, while Sebastien Haller, who will be absent in the second leg due to injury, managed to pull one back.
Simeone expressed that there is no need to extensively motivate the players about the opportunity to be among the top four teams in Europe, as they are already aware of it.
He further added, “The team is in a favorable condition.”
On the other hand, the German hosts are aiming for their first Champions League semi-final appearance in 11 years, whereas Atletico has not reached that stage in seven years.
Edin Terzic, the manager of Dortmund, hopes that the sold-out Westfalenstadion with a crowd of 81,500 can make a significant impact.
“It’s a unique atmosphere. The stadium is regularly sold out, and it has proven to be advantageous for us on numerous occasions,” he stated.
“We need a positive outcome against Atletico, and we are confident that our supporters will contribute to creating a fantastic atmosphere.”
“Therefore, we aim to repay their support.”
