Marcus Rashford reassured fans that he is feeling fine following his substitution during Manchester United’s match against Liverpool.
The English player, who was reinstated in the starting lineup after being benched in the previous game against Chelsea, was taken off in the 66th minute due to discomfort.
Man United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, provided an update after the 2-2 draw, expressing confidence that Rashford’s issue is not a major concern.
“I’m not sure, but I don’t think it will be long term,” Ten Hag stated when asked about the forward’s condition.
Rashford has recently provided an update on his official Instagram account, reassuring his followers that he will recover from his injury. When asked about his fitness by a supporter, he confidently stated that he “will be okay”.
This is encouraging news for Manchester United, as the 26-year-old has a high probability of being ready for their upcoming match against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.
Throughout this season, Rashford has struggled to showcase his top form for the Red Devils. Despite making 38 appearances in all competitions, he has only managed to score eight goals and provide five assists.
In the Premier League, he has contributed seven goals and two assists in 30 outings. As a result, there have been ongoing speculations regarding his future at Old Trafford.
If Rashford is deemed fit for this weekend’s game, the decision lies with Ten Hag on whether to include the Englishman in the starting lineup or reinstate Antony, who impressed in his last start against Chelsea.
In his most recent five Premier League appearances, Rashford has managed to score twice. Notably, he found the back of the net against Manchester City and Everton at the beginning of last month.
However, the Englishman faced difficulties in leaving a significant impact during Man United’s 1-1 draw with Brentford on March 30.
As a result, he was only able to contribute as a second-half substitute in the match against Chelsea last Thursday. Despite receiving criticism from certain sections of the fan base for his work-rate off the bench at Stamford Bridge, Rashford was reinstated into the starting lineup by Ten Hag for the clash with Liverpool.
Unfortunately, the attacker struggled once again to make his mark against Jurgen Klopp’s side, failing to register a single shot. Moreover, he faced challenges in providing an outlet for the home side while they were under pressure at Old Trafford.
