Liverpool is monitoring Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
O’Rourke suggested that a move to Anfield for Frimpong might result in Trent Alexander-Arnold playing in midfield.
However, O’Rourke mentioned that there is no rush to sign the 23-year-old due to the impressive performances of Conor Bradley at Anfield. Bradley, who is a Northern Ireland international, has filled in for the injured Alexander-Arnold in recent games.
Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal are all vying for Frimpong, who is set to be attainable through a £35 million release clause in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The full-back has impressively scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in various competitions while playing in a deep position for Bayer Leverkusen under the management of Xabi Alonso this season.
Frimpong, who made his way up through the ranks at Manchester City, showcased his talent at Celtic before making a move to Germany.
However, Bradley has also made a strong impression in the same position at Merseyside. O’Rourke explains that the Northern Ireland international is determined to secure a starting spot in that position for the foreseeable future.
The next manager at Anfield will be responsible for making decisions regarding Bradley and Alexander-Arnold, as Jurgen Klopp will be departing at the end of the season.
